This project showcases the impossible choices faced by agricultural farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa, deciding to work in excessively hot conditions brought on by a changing climate.

Methods

Hourly exposure data is sourced from the Africa Agriculture Adaptation Atlas. The data provides the average percentage for planting and harvesting seasons where days exceed a temperature threshold. A threshold of 28°C was used under the climate scenario SSP585 (2050 projection). Choices were calculated using the percentage and the total season length.
